Céfiro is proud to open abstract submission for the 2016 conference that explores the questions of identity, border and exile from multiple disciplinary frameworks.
Abstracts are invited in the following fields including but not limited to:

- Questions of identity and subjectivity
- Exile, isolation, and marginalization
- Language exile
- Migration, Immigration, and Border-Crossing
- Rewriting and subversion of tradition
- Chicano and Chicana literature and theater
- Cross-cultural communication
- Border Linguistics (Spanish & Portuguese)
- Heritage Languages
Keynote Speakers:
Conference panels will consist of 3 to 4 paper presentations 15 to 20 minutes long followed by a 20-minute question-answer session. In addition to individual abstracts, submissions for panels of 3 to 4 papers will be considered. No papers will be read in absentia. Papers can be presented in English, Spanish, or Portuguese. Two hundred and fifty (250) word abstracts along with a two-page curriculum vitae should be submitted electronically (as Microsoft Word documents). Please do not include any personal information on the abstract. Instead, on a separate page, include (1) title of your presentation, (2) name of participant, (3) affiliation, and (4) email address.
Complete electronic version of the texts of the presentations (roughly 9 pages) will be published in the conference proceedings. Papers between 10-20 pages will be considered for publication in Céfiro, the academic journal of our graduate student organization. We accept abstracts and papers by way of email: please write “Céfiro Conference submission” in subject line and sent your email to [email protected].
